About the Position:
This Construction Engineer reports to the Complex Construction Director and will support internal and external team members through collaboration on new project development and improvements to our existing distribution, transmission and LNG assets in NE/DNY/UNY. This position is responsible to provide a technical perspective throughout the design and construction Capital Delivery process. The position will also be responsible to make sure projects are feasible within the lens of field construction.
The person in this role is responsible to make sure all Complex projects are assessed for Safety, Quality and Compliance to proper standards.
This position is responsible to perform technical, financial, operational and evaluations of new and existing projects.
Project assessments shall include, but are not limited to, different design options, business alternatives, cost/benefit analysis, risk analysis and project performance evaluations.
The engineer will evaluate all aspects of design, licensing, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations on all projects.
This role is responsible to ensure specification, standards and procedures on projects.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Serve as the construction engineer during the design, construction and operation of projects on existing Complex Construction projects.
Provide technical evaluations of new complex construction projects and alternatives in areas like energy storage, solar and combustion turbines.
Establish relationships with National Grid and business partners to effectively collaborate on complex construction projects.
Provide guidance to PPO personnel, vendors, internal and external partners on current and future complex project construction status.
Provide effective communication with PPO personnel, partners, vendors, load serving entities, internal and external stakeholders on all projects to promote the effective implementation of projects.
Serve as the technical consultant throughout project development, construction, commissioning and operation on existing generating assets.
Perform safety, environmental and financial risk analysis.
Ensure all projects are eningeered with high quality and compliance with company policy, federal/state/local governmental regulations, and consistency with the high standards of National Grid.
Attend all Engineering Design Review meetings and report progress to the Director and Manager
Attend all Gate bidding meetings and report progress to the Director and Manager
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Experience in working with internal and external project teams.
Experience with Distribution, Transmission and LNG construction.
Experience with National Grid procedures and SOPs .
Experience in all phases of Complex Capital Delivery including project management, procurement, contracts, bidding, product development, construction, commissioning and operation.
Knowledge of project licensing and permitting processes.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline is required. Advanced degree preferred.
Intern Engineer Certification or Professional Engineering License preferred but not required.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in gas distribution, transmission or LNG.

Able to engage and lead others to successful results on projects.
Analytical and solution based thinking necessary.

Capable of working in a matrix organization and achieve results.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point applications.
Familiar with financial modeling of projects.
