The Schedule Manager is responsible for analyzing construction schedules, developing master program schedules, performing delay analysis, implementing best practices for scheduling requirements in contract documents, monitoring schedule risk, and providing reporting to project teams regarding schedule status and risk. In addition, the schedule manager may participate in producing recovery schedule recommendations and collaborate with project stakeholders to work through schedule issues. In this role, you may be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
The Schedule Manager will lead all schedule management, analysis, and control support for assigned projects and programs. The Schedule Manager will ensure strategic and tactical support is provided to project teams and clients throughout the full project or program lifecycle through various best practices. Will work with the project management and/or project controls managers to develop a plan for the long-term support of the project or program including developing, managing, and reporting schedule data and analysis.
In this role, you may be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the schedule management program and deliverables to be used on large scale capital projects and programs (tools, technology, processes and procedures).
- Provide support to project teams to manage the owner schedule, including setup of the schedule in the management system, detailed analysis, and reporting of schedule information.
- Develop master program schedules as needed, utilizing comparable construction project data and current information on material lead times. At times, this may require detailed construction schedule development.
- Assist in project planning phases by developing schedule scenarios and comparisons.
- Work with project teams to implement scheduling best practices requirements and specifications into contract documents.
- Oversee and conduct detailed technical analysis of schedules provided by designers, contractors and others to support project teams, clients and company leaders with identifying and addressing risks, issues, and mitigation plans related to schedule.
- Perform the earned value analysis for construction progress monitoring and forecasting as it relates to the schedule.
- Identify and track key metrics to be used to measure progress and schedule performance.
- Support development of cash flow projections, if required.
- Develop and implement program to provide robust data analytics and reporting to project teams and clients, including use of cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules provided by contractors.
- Support development of the project control and project execution plans for individual projects and programs.
- Supervise (and perform when necessary) the schedule control efforts of the project/program to include guidance and oversight of the schedule management system, preparation of schedule report templates, and issue of monthly Schedule and Change Management report deliverables. Validate and report on schedule performance against the baseline schedule, highlight bottlenecks / delays and propose corrective actions.
- Identify schedule improvement strategies to reduce time and support completion of projects and programs on time.
- Establish and ensure adherence to a standard HPM Work Breakdown Structure to facilitate consistent data capture for use in reporting and analytics.
- Serve as subject matter expert for scheduling softwares and tools used by Project Controls and Project Teams to analyze schedules, identify risks and develop mitigation plans (e.g. SmartPM, Sitetraxx, P6, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, Office Timeline).
- Provide forensic analysis for claims defense or mitigation.
- Ability to review schedule for progress, warning signs, identify critical path, and alignment between cost and schedule.
- Support review and validation of contractor pay requests from progress standpoint.
- Support review and validation of contractor change requests when time impacts are a component.
Preferred Experience
- 3-7 years of project management or control solutions experience on major projects and programs.
- Experience with Procore or other project management information systems.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with databases (MS Access), Power BI and dashboard development is preferred.
- Experience working with SmartPM.
- Proficient in CPM Scheduling utilizing Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Experience working in a consultancy or owner organization is an asset.
- Ability to be flexible/adaptable in evolving procedures and work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
