Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Manager, Project Controls is responsible for managing schedules, cost tracking and reporting for Clearway’s wind and solar projects. This role will establish operating policies to identify, analyze, and mitigate projects’ risks. The primary objective is to oversee the company’s Project Control procedures and processes for all of Clearway Energy’s solar, wind, and storage projects under development and under construction.
Work in conjunction with the Project Development group in order to coordinate the cost and schedule performance of all projects under development.
Work in conjunction with the Construction group in order to coordinate the cost and schedule performance of all projects under construction.
Work closely with the Cost Optimization Principal, Development Manager, and Construction Manager for creating, finalizing and approving projects’ Budgets.
Work with Accounting, Construction, and Financial Reporting groups for accurate cost status reporting.
Works with the Schedule Manager for accurate schedule status reporting.
Ensures consistent, accurate management and reporting of capital costs, variances, trends, and schedule status on all assigned projects.
Assists the Construction group in developing recovery plans on cost and schedule within agreed timeframes.
Assists the Construction group in managing claims for variations and extensions and assists in resolutions of contract disputes.
Identifies and implements best practices, procedures, tools and systems for project controls.
Manages the compilation of data from different functional groups for the calculation of projects’ Estimate at Completion and Estimate To Complete.
Ensures feedback of cost and schedule actuals to the Cost Optimization Principal for integration into the EPC cost database and roadmaps.
Responsible for creating and distributing weekly and monthly reports to the organization with the status of each of the projects under development and construction.
During construction implementation activities, the PCO Manager will engage with the Construction and Accounting groups in order to obtain the status of all change orders paid, under processing, under negotiation, claims and cost trending analysis and activities.
Ensures tracking of all paid and to be paid invoices according to contract terms and the project control system.
Implement financial controls including controlling authorizations of expenditure and cash flow projections.
May require travel on a monthly basis to assigned utility scale projects to attend monthly EPC meetings with the Construction group
Knowledge & Skills:
Capable of describing, presenting, and supporting analyses related to schedule and cost status.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (capable of working with internal and external links to databases).
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
Proficiency with various project scheduling programs like Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
Proficiency with using SAP for obtaining cost information and creating projects’ WBS.
Basic understanding of corporate accounting and project finance reporting.
Demonstrated familiarity with the technical components that comprise a renewable energy project.
Demonstrated familiarity with typical construction milestones and EPC contract structures.
Education and Experience:
BS or Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with project controls (cost control, schedule control) in the EPC construction industry on capital intensive projects from conception to completion.
Experience developing and managing tools, processes, and procedures related to project controls, risk analysis, contingency, and scheduling and cost forecasting.
