Under broad general direction, this role is part of the Site C Risk Management team that is accountable to the Site C Risk Review Committee. This role work closely with Risk Management team members, Site C Leadership Members and Risk Owners to ensure the project’s risk are identified, quantified and managed. This role assists with risk issues of strategic and project significance to ensure the project’s material risks are identified, analysed and managed; and analysing the material project risks; and developing and implement risk strategies and actions required for BC Hydro to successfully complete the Site C Clean Energy Project.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
* In conjunction with other risk management members and project team members, provides strategic leadership in the risk quantification, management and actions required for the project to succeed.
Is a risk management subject-mater-expert to advise on complex components of the risk management process and practices of identifying, evaluating, and preventing or mitigating risks to the project that have the potential to impact the desired outcomes
Leads strategic risk management implementation, communication and evaluation initiatives and provides leadership to Risk Owners to ensure alignment of their risk work with the Site C Risk Management Plan and practices.
Identifies and researches a wide variety of complex and sensitive risk issues in areas such as emerging risks, risk interdependencies, risk drivers, risk consequences, risk treatment plans, risk quantification, risk management governance, and risk reporting to shareholder/regulator; and objectively analyzes risks at the micro and macro level making recommends on strategic and effective courses of action.
Provides advice and counsel to project team members and Risk Owners on risk issues of a strategic, highly sensitive and controversial nature.
Responsible for a portfolio risks of sub-project and functional group strategic risks.
Collects, analyzes, documents and disseminates intelligence pertaining to the risk and impact to the project; identifies and analyzes risk issues and trends, advises risk management options and risk implications.
Leads cross functional group and sub-project committees, workshops and meetings addressing various strategic risk issues involving the broader project team.
Provides risk register and process technical direction to working groups, risk owners and contractors responsible for undertaking various risk activities; develops and delivers risk training; develops risk reports for complex project risks.
Skills and Knowledge Required * Strong knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Risk Program Management, Risk Management, risk quantification and related industry risk standards.
Well developed knowledge of construction projects and typical project team roles.
Well developed business acumen, judgment, conflict resolution and emotional maturity.
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to research and analyze strategic issues, with reference to hydro electric generation projects.
Ability to generate innovative ideas, methods, processes or options in addressing highly complex and sensitive risk issues
Ability to form and facilitate effective project relationships with individuals representing a broad range of interests and specializations
Ability to establish rapport with senior management and utilize judgment in presenting sensitive issues appropriately
Ability to conduct risk reviews and support the project team in developing risk treatment and action plans to respond to risks.
Ability to resolve issues, identify and communicate risks, and ensure that appropriate risk management initiatives are identified.
Ability to respond to internal and external inquiries, and requests regarding the project’s risk
Periodic travel to Fort St. John will be required as part of this role
This full-time temporary role is scheduled until approximately March 2025

A university degree or professional designation in Risk Management, Business, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or Science is preferred
Have seven years related experience with a minimum of five years risk management experience.
Advance Microsoft Excel skills to complete complex risk analysis and reports; must be able to write and combine formulas such as SUMIFS, INDEX, MATCH, LOOKUP formulas and create pivot tables.
